At Wyloo, we believe in a future that is truly sustainable – where technology unlocks new horizons and green energy preserves our planet for every generation to come. We are committed to enabling a safe supply of high-grade critical materials from extraction to processing, using the highest standards of environmental sustainability that make our operations the benchmark for mines of the future. Through our partnerships with local and First Nation communities, we ensure our success means progress for everyone. We have assets in Australia, mining projects in Canada, and a strong growth pipeline with exploration across both countries.
In Canada, Wyloo is advancing its flagship Eagle’s Nest Project in the Ring of Fire region of northern Ontario, one of the best, undeveloped high-grade nickel, copper and platinum group element deposits in the world. Our Ring of Fire portfolio also includes world-class chromite deposits. In addition, we are evaluating the potential development of a downstream battery materials facility in City of Greater Sudbury. Wyloo’s Canadian projects are supported by offices in Toronto and Thunder Bay.

Your opportunity at Wyloo
Our Director, Environment & Permitting will lead the environmental studies, permitting strategy, approvals and regulatory engagement that underpin the Eagle’s Nest Project across its full lifecycle. Based in either Toronto or Thunder Bay and reporting to the VP, Projects, you will set the direction for one of the most consequential permitting pathways in Canadian mining today, and build the internal environmental capability needed as the project moves from development through construction and into operations.
Working alongside the project team, you will shape and deliver a permitting strategy that supports project timelines, funding requirements and our social licence to operate. You will direct multi-disciplinary consultant teams, lead pre-submission consultations with government agencies and act as the definitive subject matter expert on environment and permitting across the project.
Why this role matters
The permitting pathway you lead will determine how, when and on what terms Eagle’s Nest reaches construction and operation. Your judgement, foresight and ability to anticipate and mitigate risk will shape outcomes for the project, for the regulators and communities we work with, and for the broader development of the Ring of Fire region. This is a chance to lead environmental approvals on a globally significant critical minerals project, in partnership with First Nations communities and alongside a team committed to doing this well.
What you’ll bring to Wyloo
You bring 15 or more years of environmental management experience within the Canadian mining sector, including a proven track record of successfully permitting greenfield metal mining projects in Ontario. You have strong knowledge of the Ontario Mining Act, Environmental Protection Act and related frameworks and you have led complex 1P1P and environmental assessment processes through to approval. You hold a degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Natural Resource Management or a related discipline, and an Environmental Professional (EP) designation is highly regarded.
Your technical expertise spans water and wastewater management in mining operations, environmental management systems and the preparation of permitting strategies, consultant scopes of work and budgets. You have contributed environmental and risk components to Feasibility Studies and economic evaluations, and you know how to balance regulatory and stakeholder requirements with creative solutions that reduce capital cost, operating cost and schedule. You have worked meaningfully with First Nations communities on major resource projects and understand what respectful, relationship-led engagement looks like in practice.
As a leader, you set clear expectations, drive accountability and build capability in those around you. You exercise sound judgement in complex environments, communicate complex technical ideas clearly to non-technical audiences, and build trusted relationships across teams, regulators, consultants and communities. You are resilient, adaptable and comfortable with the pace of a project moving quickly through its most pivotal phases.
