About the Role
RVI Group Ltd. is a multidisciplinary engineering firm based in Thunder Bay, Ontario. We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to lead and expand our civil engineering department, oversee project delivery, and support continued business growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the civil engineering department, including staffing, workloads, budgets, and project delivery.
- Design residential subdivisions, commercial, industrial, and institutional developments.
- Oversee site grading, road design, earthworks, drainage, and erosion control.
- Design municipal infrastructure, including sanitary sewers, storm sewers, watermains, and associated utilities.
- Prepare stormwater management plans, functional servicing reports, and infrastructure feasibility studies.
- Lead municipal approvals, permitting, and coordination with regulatory authorities.
- Experience with water & wastewater treatment plants an asset, but not required.
- Review and seal engineering drawings, specifications, reports, and calculations.
- Manage client relationships, prepare proposals, fee estimates, and project schedules.
- Oversee tendering, construction administration, site inspections, and contract documentation.
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff while supporting business development and departmental growth.
Qualifications
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario.
- Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 15 years of relevant civil engineering experience, preferably in consulting engineering.
- Extensive experience in land development, municipal infrastructure, and stormwater management.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario municipal design standards, regulations, and approval processes.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; Civil 3D experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated project management, leadership, and client relationship skills.
- Valid Ontario Class G driver's licence.
Compensation & Work Arrangement
- Salary: $100,000-$150,000 annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
- Location: Thunder Bay, Ontario.
- Work arrangement: Primarily office-based, with flexibility to work remotely when required.
- Travel: Occasional travel to project sites and northern communities.
